2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 — trade has positive equity — apply it or take the money? — buyer question from Sacramento

FlatSixGuy792Community StarterApr 23, 20262018 Mercedes-AMG C63 SSacramento
2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 S, about 100,500 miles. My trade is worth more than the payoff. I am deciding whether to use the equity in the next purchase or keep the transactions separate. What are the practical pros and cons?

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in Sacramento before you fall in love with the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 in Sacramento with 100,500 miles. When does it actually happen? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 in Sacramento with 100,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Sacramento before you fall in love with the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63. If they balk, that's your answer. On “amg c63 — trade has positive equity,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 in Sacramento with 100,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd push back a little: In Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “amg c63 — trade has positive equity,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Sacramento changed the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 comparison more than the sale price did. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 notes. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Quick update: a second 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 quote made the first offer look ordinary. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Sleeping on the number either way.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 (100,500 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “amg c63 — trade has positive equity,” that was the fork that mattered for me. When does it actually happen? If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “amg c63 — trade has positive equity,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Sacramento before you fall in love with the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “amg c63 — trade has positive equity,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Any freeze-frame data saved? Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.
