2018 Subaru Forester — brake fluid is old but still looks clean — Cleveland owner question

2018 Subaru Forester 2.5i, about 154,000 miles. Fluid looks clear in the reservoir but has been in the car for several years. Would you change based on time/moisture rather than appearance?

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2018 Subaru Forester before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. No need to make it theatrical. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Quick add on that: On the 2018 Subaru Forester in Cleveland, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “brake fluid is old but still looks,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2018 Subaru Forester owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
