2018 Ford F-150 — brake fluid is old but still looks clean — second opinion before I spend money

2018 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7 EcoBoost, about 88,500 miles. Fluid looks clear in the reservoir but has been in the car for several years. Would you change based on time/moisture rather than appearance? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2018 Ford F-150 before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Do that first. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2018 Ford F-150 in Florida, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “150 — brake fluid is old but,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2018 Ford F-150 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2018 Ford F-150 in Florida with 88,500 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Asking because it changes the advice: If it still isn't clear on the 2018 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. That's the whole play. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2018 Ford F-150 first. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2018 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. No need to make it theatrical. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Following up on 150 — brake fluid is old but: still happening, but I have better notes now. That's my plan before I call anyone.
