2019 Ram 2500 — 50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke?

TrailMechanicish660Community StarterNov 25, 20252019 Ram 2500 CumminsCharlotte
I just crossed 50k miles and want to log maintenance, unscheduled repairs, tire life, fuel economy, dealer visits, annoyances and whether I would buy the same car again. What would you check next?

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2019 Ram 2500 numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2019 Ram 2500 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2019 Ram 2500 price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2019 Ram 2500, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2019 Ram 2500 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Agree — and I'd add this: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2019 Ram 2500 numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Charlotte before you fall in love with the 2019 Ram 2500. If they balk, that's your answer. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. Two 2019 Ram 2500 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2019 Ram 2500, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'll update if anything new shows up.
