2020 Acura RDX — coolant is old by age but mileage is low

RoadTripBuyer172Community StarterSep 13, 20252020 Acura RDX SH-AWDRaleigh
The vehicle has relatively few miles but the coolant is several years old. I am trying to prioritize maintenance by actual risk. Would you replace based on time alone? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2020 Acura RDX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Yes, with one caveat: Capture voltage while the 2020 Acura RDX is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “coolant is old by age but mileage,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2020 Acura RDX in Raleigh. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Ask what changed right before it started. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2020 Acura RDX does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. Do that first. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2020 Acura RDX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. That's the whole play. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2020 Acura RDX catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “coolant is old by age but mileage,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
