2020 BMW M2 — dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires? — trying to narrow this down

2020 BMW M2 Competition, about 51,500 miles. Most roads are plowed quickly, but there are cold wet days, slush and a handful of serious storms. For a daily driver, where is the line where dedicated winters become worth storing?

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2020 BMW M2 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Ask what changed right before it started. Capture voltage while the 2020 BMW M2 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2020 BMW M2 and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2020 BMW M2 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2020 BMW M2 and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2020 BMW M2, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. That's the sequence I'd use. That's my plan before I call anyone.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Move a coil or plug on the 2020 BMW M2 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2020 BMW M2 does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires?,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.
