2020 BMW M2 — going one inch smaller for winter wheels

I want smaller winter wheels for more sidewall. Overall tire diameter can stay close, but I am worried about caliper and spoke clearance. What measurements should be checked before ordering? I am in Texas. Mileage is about 31,000.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. If Texas only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2020 BMW M2 can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
