2021 Honda CR-V EX-L — weird vibration only between 62–70 mph

FlatSixEnthusiast5Community StarterApr 15, 20262021 Honda CR-V EX-LDMV / Maryland
Car is smooth around town, but on the highway I get a vibration in the steering wheel and seat between about 62 and 70 mph. Above that it actually gets a little better. Tires look okay to me. Where would you start before I start throwing parts at it?

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Honda CR-V catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “v ex-l — weird vibration only between,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Honda CR-V in DMV / Maryland. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Honda CR-V is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. Any freeze-frame data saved? Make the next action something you can finish this week. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2021 Honda CR-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Honda CR-V catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Honda CR-V, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Any freeze-frame data saved? Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Honda CR-V if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. On “v ex-l — weird vibration only between,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2021 Honda CR-V and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Yes, with one caveat: Two 2021 Honda CR-Vs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. The universe charges extra for guessing. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2021 Honda CR-V didn't change. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

OP update: scanned the 2021 Honda CR-V again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2021 Honda CR-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Ask what changed right before it started. Capture voltage while the 2021 Honda CR-V is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2021 Honda CR-V in DMV / Maryland. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Checking again after work.

I'd push back a little: Two 2021 Honda CR-Vs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.
