2021 Lexus ES 350 — anyone else: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? I'm in Detroit. Trying to diagnose before I book a shop.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Lexus ES numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “anyone else: cpo luxury suv or brand-new,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
