2021 Lexus ES — 50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? — trying to narrow this down

TowDaily897Community StarterJul 3, 20262021 Lexus ES 350Austin
2021 Lexus ES 350, about 69,000 miles. I just crossed 50k miles and want to log maintenance, unscheduled repairs, tire life, fuel economy, dealer visits, annoyances and whether I would buy the same car again.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Lexus ES so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2021 Lexus ES quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Austin before you fall in love with the 2021 Lexus ES. If they balk, that's your answer. That's the sequence I'd use. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Austin before you fall in love with the 2021 Lexus ES. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Austin with 69,000 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd push back a little: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Lexus ES price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Call your insurer in Austin before you fall in love with the 2021 Lexus ES. If they balk, that's your answer. Was this after sitting overnight? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Lexus ES and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Lexus ES and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Austin with 69,000 miles. No need to make it theatrical. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Lexus ES price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd push back a little: In Austin, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Lexus ES comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Lexus ES so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in Austin before you fall in love with the 2021 Lexus ES. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Austin with 69,000 miles. Was this after sitting overnight? This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Agree — and I'd add this: A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Lexus ES is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke? —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Austin with 69,000 miles. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2021 Lexus ES and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Lexus ES numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.
