2021 Tesla Model S — infotainment became glitchy after an OTA update — anyone dealt with this recently?

After a software update the screen occasionally reboots and one saved setting keeps resetting. Is there a normal post-update reset procedure owners should try before booking service? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2021 Tesla Model S charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Only after sitting overnight so far.

OP update: scanned the 2021 Tesla Model S again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2021 Tesla Model S so service can see what you saw. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2021 Tesla Model S in California. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'd rather be boring and correct. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I'd push back a little: Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2021 Tesla Model S charge sessions. That's where I'd start. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2021 Tesla Model S — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Asking because it changes the advice: Try a second charger before blaming the 2021 Tesla Model S — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2021 Tesla Model S in California. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

It did infotainment became glitchy after an ota update twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2021 Tesla Model S so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'll poke at it this weekend.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2021 Tesla Model S, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “infotainment became glitchy after an ota update,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Tesla Model S in California. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Leave the alerts on the 2021 Tesla Model S so service can see what you saw. I'd do that before spending real money. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Checking again after work.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2021 Tesla Model S charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2021 Tesla Model S in California. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Agree — and I'd add this: On the 2021 Tesla Model S, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “infotainment became glitchy after an ota update,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2021 Tesla Model S, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. I'd do that before spending real money. On “infotainment became glitchy after an ota update,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Then you'll know the next fork. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
