2022 Ford Maverick — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

RotorWrench276Community StarterJul 28, 20262022 Ford Maverick XLT HybridColumbus
2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid, about 23,000 miles. A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing? I would rather test this logically than replace parts. What would you check next?

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2022 Ford Maverick does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Ford Maverick is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Only after sitting overnight so far.

OP update: scanned the 2022 Ford Maverick again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Yes, with one caveat: Two 2022 Ford Mavericks can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Checking again after work.

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Ford Maverick, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Only after sitting overnight so far.
