2022 Ford Maverick — going one inch smaller for winter wheels — Nashville owner question

OldSchoolCommuter155Community StarterDec 26, 20252022 Ford Maverick XLT HybridNashville
I want smaller winter wheels for more sidewall. Overall tire diameter can stay close, but I am worried about caliper and spoke clearance. What measurements should be checked before ordering?

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2022 Ford Maverick. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2022 Ford Maverick in Nashville. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I parked the 2022 Ford Maverick and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Following up on going one inch smaller for winter wheels: still happening, but I have better notes now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2022 Ford Maverick. I'd do that before spending real money. On “going one inch smaller for winter wheels,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2022 Ford Maverick in Nashville. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. That's my plan before I call anyone.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. In Nashville, dedicated winters on the 2022 Ford Maverick paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. I'd do that before spending real money. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. If Nashville only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2022 Ford Maverick can be the saner daily. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2022 Ford Maverick in Nashville. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2022 Ford Maverick first. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. If Nashville only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2022 Ford Maverick can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
