2022 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport — anyone else: Intermittent metallic rattle after cold start

RustMomCommunity StarterDec 4, 20252022 Honda Accord 2.0T SportBoston / New England
For the first few seconds after a cold start I hear a metallic rattle, then it disappears and won't come back once the engine is warm. No warning lights and it drives normally. Has anyone chased something like this without just replacing random parts? I'm in Boston / New England. Any data points from owners would help. What am I missing?

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2022 Honda Accord and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Boston / New England before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Boston / New England. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2022 Honda Accord, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2022 Honda Accord quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2022 Honda Accord. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Boston / New England before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. On “anyone else: intermittent metallic rattle after cold,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2022 Honda Accord so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Boston / New England changed the 2022 Honda Accord comparison more than the sale price did. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Honda Accord price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2022 Honda Accord and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Boston / New England. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Quick update: a second 2022 Honda Accord quote made the first offer look ordinary. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2022 Honda Accord so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2022 Honda Accord, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Boston / New England. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2022 Honda Accord, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Boston / New England, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Honda Accord comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.
