2022 Tesla Model 3 — cPO badge versus independent PPI

MarketWrenchCommunity StarterDec 20, 20252022 Tesla Model 3 Long RangeQueens
The dealer says the car passed the manufacturer CPO inspection and suggests an outside inspection is unnecessary. I like the warranty but still want an independent PPI. Overkill or sensible? I am in Queens.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in Queens before you fall in love with the 2022 Tesla Model 3. Do that before you talk monthly again. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2022 Tesla Model 3 numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “cpo badge versus independent ppi,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Asking because it changes the advice: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Tesla Model 3 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2022 Tesla Model 3 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2022 Tesla Model 3 and the doc fee was the tell. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I would not stare at the monthly. In Queens, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Tesla Model 3 comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.
