2022 Tesla Model 3 — how are owners measuring real battery degradation?

HighwayGeekCommunity StarterFeb 23, 20262022 Tesla Model 3 Long RangeAustin
2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range, about 80,500 miles. Displayed range moves too much with weather and recent driving to be a useful health metric by itself. What repeatable measurements do you trust for tracking battery degradation over time? I am in Austin. What would you check next?

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Tesla Model 3, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2022 Tesla Model 3s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Capture voltage while the 2022 Tesla Model 3 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2022 Tesla Model 3 in Austin with 80,500 miles. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not driving it hard until I know more.
