2022 Tesla Model 3 — rear tires are disappearing faster than expected — buyer question from Dallas

NewCarFanCommunity StarterJul 25, 20262022 Tesla Model 3 Long RangeDallas
The car is aligned and pressures are correct, but rear tire life is much shorter than my previous gas cars. Has rotation strategy, tire choice or driving style made the biggest difference? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

OP update: scanned the 2022 Tesla Model 3 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2022 Tesla Model 3 — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2022 Tesla Model 3 so service can see what you saw. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2022 Tesla Model 3 in Dallas. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Asking because it changes the advice: Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2022 Tesla Model 3 charge sessions. That's where I'd start. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Not driving it hard until I know more.

I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

It did rear tires are disappearing faster than expected twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

I went back under the 2022 Tesla Model 3 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2022 Tesla Model 3, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. I'd do that before spending real money. On “rear tires are disappearing faster than expected,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2022 Tesla Model 3 charge sessions. Then you'll know the next fork. No need to make it theatrical. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2022 Tesla Model 3, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “rear tires are disappearing faster than expected,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

On “rear tires are disappearing faster than expected,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Try a second charger before blaming the 2022 Tesla Model 3 — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. Then you'll know the next fork. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.
