2022 Volkswagen GTI — fuel trims are positive at idle and improve with RPM

RoadTraveler73Community StarterApr 10, 20262022 Volkswagen GTI SEColumbus
2022 Volkswagen GTI SE, about 37,000 miles. Long-term fuel trims are much more positive at idle than at 2,500 RPM. No obvious misfire. Does that pattern still make an intake/vacuum leak the first place to look? I am in Columbus.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Volkswagen GTI, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Did the worksheet show tax yet? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

If it were in my driveway, swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2022 Volkswagen GTI and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2022 Volkswagen GTI if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. When does it actually happen? A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Volkswagen GTI, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. On “fuel trims are positive at idle and,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2022 Volkswagen GTI and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2022 Volkswagen GTI in Columbus with 37,000 miles. Did the worksheet show tax yet? If it repeats twice more I'll book time.
