2022 Volvo XC90 — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

EVHauler534Community StarterApr 24, 20262022 Volvo XC90 RechargeDenver
2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge, about 35,000 miles. A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing?

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Two 2022 Volvo XC90s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

If it were in my driveway, if a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Volvo XC90, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2022 Volvo XC90s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'll update if anything new shows up.
