2023 Audi S5 Sportback — delayed engagement into Drive when cold

2023 Audi S5 Sportback, about 8,200 miles. On cold mornings, shifting from Park to Drive takes a second or two before the car actually engages. Once warm it's instant and shifts fine. Fluid level/condition is my first thought, but what else should I check?

Log the conditions before you spend. Two 2023 Audi S5s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “delayed engagement into drive when cold,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

I'd push back a little: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Audi S5, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
