2023 BMW M340i xDrive — cPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? I'm in North Jersey. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 BMW M340i, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 2023 BMW M340i is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “cpo luxury suv or brand-new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2023 BMW M340i quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2023 BMW M340i with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.
