2023 BMW M340i xDrive — need advice: Another software-related recall — are cars getting too centralized?

This newest recall looks like another case where a software/electronics fault affects a basic driving function. I like modern features, but it does make me wonder whether too many systems now depend on one screen/module. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts. What am I missing?

Following up on need advice: another software-related recall — are: still happening, but I have better notes now. That's my plan before I call anyone.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 BMW M340i before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2023 BMW M340i in Connecticut. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2023 BMW M340i in Connecticut, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “need advice: another software-related recall — are,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Fair point. Counterpoint: If it still isn't clear on the 2023 BMW M340i, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2023 BMW M340i in Connecticut. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Same neighborhood, different next step: A second data point from another 2023 BMW M340i owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
