2023 GMC Sierra 1500 — second battery versus portable power station — trying to narrow this down

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. I want reliable fridge/lights/device power for weekend trips without making the vehicle electrical system unnecessarily complicated. When does a hardwired dual-battery setup beat a portable power station? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in Phoenix, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “second battery versus portable power station —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in Phoenix. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do.
