2023 GMC Sierra 1500 — vibration under acceleration but not while coasting

DailyEnthusiastCommunity StarterJun 30, 20262023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4Northern Virginia
The car is smooth at the same road speed when I lift off, but under moderate acceleration I can feel a vibration through the floor. What would you inspect first to separate axle/driveline issues from an engine mount? Mostly looking for the right next step. I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Ask what changed right before it started. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “vibration under acceleration but not while coasting,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Capture voltage while the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “vibration under acceleration but not while coasting,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in Northern Virginia. That's the whole play. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. On “vibration under acceleration but not while coasting,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Log the conditions before you spend. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “vibration under acceleration but not while coasting,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

If it were in my driveway, two 2023 GMC Sierra 1500s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.
