2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 — light-throttle shudder around 35–45 mph

OldSchoolWeekendCommunity StarterDec 6, 20252023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 LimitedCharlotte
2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited, about 45,000 miles. There is a rumble-strip-like shudder at steady light throttle in a narrow speed range. Harder acceleration or lifting off makes it disappear. How would you separate converter behavior from engine misfire or wheel/tire vibration? I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Two 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “light-throttle shudder around 35–45 mph,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Charlotte with 45,000 miles. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Ask what changed right before it started. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Stop there until you know. Checking again after work.

OP update: scanned the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Charlotte with 45,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. That's the whole play. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Agree — and I'd add this: Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Charlotte with 45,000 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd push back a little: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Log the conditions before you spend. Capture voltage while the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “light-throttle shudder around 35–45 mph,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “light-throttle shudder around 35–45 mph,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
