2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon — need advice: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them?

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Jeep Wrangler numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “need advice: cpo luxury suv or brand-new,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Not convinced that's the whole story. In Nashville, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Jeep Wrangler comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Quick add on that: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.
