2023 Lincoln Navigator — extended warranty on a used luxury car

BrakeHauler786Community StarterJan 20, 20262023 Lincoln Navigator ReserveNew York
2023 Lincoln Navigator Reserve, about 64,000 miles. I am buying a used luxury car just outside factory warranty. Dealer is offering a service contract that is not cheap. What exclusions, labor caps, deductibles and claim rules should I read before deciding?

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Lincoln Navigator numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Lincoln Navigator numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2023 Lincoln Navigator in New York with 64,000 miles. Do that first. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2023 Lincoln Navigator quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “extended warranty on a used luxury car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Lincoln Navigator numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “extended warranty on a used luxury car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. That's my plan before I call anyone.

If I were shopping this, in New York, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Lincoln Navigator comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. Two 2023 Lincoln Navigator quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.
