2023 Nissan Z — buyer sends a vehicle-history website I have never heard of

ShiftGuy438Community StarterJul 28, 20262023 Nissan Z PerformanceNYC
Someone interested in my car insists I buy a report from a specific unfamiliar website before they will meet. Is this a common scam pattern and what information should I avoid entering?

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In NYC, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Nissan Z comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2023 Nissan Z quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2023 Nissan Z price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. That's the whole play. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Ask for out-the-door on the 2023 Nissan Z with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2023 Nissan Z quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2023 Nissan Z with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buyer sends a vehicle-history website i have,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in NYC before you fall in love with the 2023 Nissan Z. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “buyer sends a vehicle-history website i have,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
