2023 Rivian R1T Quad-Motor — eV tires wearing much faster than expected

EcoRunner34Community StarterOct 21, 20252023 Rivian R1T Quad-MotorOhio
Rear tires are wearing noticeably faster than I expected even though alignment is supposedly okay. I know weight and torque don't help. Has anyone improved life with rotations, pressure changes, or a different tire without killing efficiency? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2023 Rivian R1T — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2023 Rivian R1T so service can see what you saw. That's where I'd start. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in Ohio. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2023 Rivian R1T, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “motor — ev tires wearing much faster,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I went back under the 2023 Rivian R1T and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Quick add on that: Leave the alerts on the 2023 Rivian R1T so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. When does it actually happen? That's my plan before I call anyone.

Yes, with one caveat: On the 2023 Rivian R1T, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “motor — ev tires wearing much faster,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2023 Rivian R1T charge sessions. I'd do that before spending real money. Do that first. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Update: the cheap test changed the symptom, so I'm not throwing parts yet. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

OP here — recorded a short video and noted speed, temp, and whether it was in gear. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

Asking because it changes the advice: Try a second charger before blaming the 2023 Rivian R1T — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2023 Rivian R1T first. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.
