2023 Rivian R1T — should I negotiate the trade and purchase separately?

SunBeltPilot913Community StarterMay 10, 20262023 Rivian R1T Quad-MotorTexas
2023 Rivian R1T Quad-Motor, about 34,000 miles. I have a trade with some equity and I am buying another car. Dealer wants to talk only in payment numbers. Would you settle sale price first, then trade value, then financing so each piece stays visible?

Title status is the whole conversation. If the 2023 Rivian R1T still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in Texas with 34,000 miles. Stop there until you know. Sleeping on the number either way.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. If the 2023 Rivian R1T still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 2023 Rivian R1T still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 2023 Rivian R1T is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2023 Rivian R1T is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. On “should i negotiate the trade and purchase,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.
