I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. If Pennsylvania only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2023 Subaru Outback can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. On “going one inch smaller for winter wheels,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. In Pennsylvania, dedicated winters on the 2023 Subaru Outback paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. Then you'll know the next fork. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Fair point. Counterpoint: In Pennsylvania, dedicated winters on the 2023 Subaru Outback paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. I'd do that before spending real money. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. If Pennsylvania only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2023 Subaru Outback can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. On “going one inch smaller for winter wheels,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Subaru Outback in Pennsylvania. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2023 Subaru Outback. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Not driving it hard until I know more.
