2023 Subaru Outback — windshield replaced — does camera calibration matter?

CityLearner884Community StarterDec 7, 20252023 Subaru Outback WildernessHouston
2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness, about 57,500 miles. A new windshield is installed and there is no dash warning, but the shop recommends camera calibration. If the manufacturer procedure calls for it, would you do it even when lane-assist functions appear normal? I am in Houston. What would you check next?

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2023 Subaru Outback in Houston, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “windshield replaced — does camera calibration matter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Asking because it changes the advice: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 Subaru Outback before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 Subaru Outback before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Was this after sitting overnight? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2023 Subaru Outback, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2023 Subaru Outback first. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I parked the 2023 Subaru Outback and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Agree — and I'd add this: On the 2023 Subaru Outback in Houston, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “windshield replaced — does camera calibration matter,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I'd push back a little: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 Subaru Outback before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A second data point from another 2023 Subaru Outback owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2023 Subaru Outback owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
