2024 Acura MDX — costs that mattered more than fuel economy

2024 Acura MDX Type S, about 17,000 miles. After owning the car for a while, tires, insurance and service pricing mattered more than the MPG difference I obsessed over before buying. What ownership costs surprised you most?

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Acura MDX owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2024 Acura MDX in Connecticut with 17,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Acura MDX owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2024 Acura MDX, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Acura MDX before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2024 Acura MDX in Connecticut, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “costs that mattered more than fuel economy,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
