2024 Acura MDX — intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop

ColdStartDetailer962Community StarterMay 23, 20262024 Acura MDX Type SMiami
2024 Acura MDX Type S, about 18,000 miles. Every few days the car hesitates for a split second leaving a stop, then drives normally. No permanent warning light. I want to know what data to capture the next time it happens.

Log the conditions before you spend. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Acura MDX and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Acura MDX if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2024 Acura MDX in Miami with 18,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Acura MDX and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Acura MDX does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Not driving it hard until I know more.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Acura MDX is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Acura MDX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

It did intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

OP update: scanned the 2024 Acura MDX again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Acura MDX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Only after sitting overnight so far.

If it were in my driveway, swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Acura MDX and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Not driving it hard until I know more.
