2024 Ford F-150 — buyer sends a vehicle-history website I have never heard of — buyer question from Texas

PistonGuy576Community StarterMar 20, 20262024 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5 EcoBoostTexas
2024 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5 EcoBoost, about 30,000 miles. Someone interested in my car insists I buy a report from a specific unfamiliar website before they will meet. Is this a common scam pattern and what information should I avoid entering? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2024 Ford F-150 in Texas with 30,000 miles. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ford F-150 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “150 — buyer sends a vehicle-history website,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. In Texas, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Ford F-150 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Quick add on that: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ford F-150 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “150 — buyer sends a vehicle-history website,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Ford F-150 in Texas with 30,000 miles. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ford F-150 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Sleeping on the number either way.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Do that first. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2024 Ford F-150 (30,000 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Ford F-150, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Asking because it changes the advice: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Ford F-150 price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Ford F-150 numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.
