2024 Jeep Gladiator — second battery versus portable power station — New Jersey owner question

TrailBuyerCommunity StarterMar 19, 20262024 Jeep Gladiator MojaveNew Jersey
2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave, about 38,500 miles. I want reliable fridge/lights/device power for weekend trips without making the vehicle electrical system unnecessarily complicated. When does a hardwired dual-battery setup beat a portable power station? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

It did second battery versus portable power station — twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “second battery versus portable power station —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

If it were in my driveway, write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Jeep Gladiator does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

OP update: scanned the 2024 Jeep Gladiator again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Agree — and I'd add this: Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “second battery versus portable power station —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Heat soak after errands is the other window.
