2024 Land Rover Defender — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

2024 Land Rover Defender 110 P400, about 25,500 miles. A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing?

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Land Rover Defender and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

If it were in my driveway, capture voltage while the 2024 Land Rover Defender is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Land Rover Defender if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Ask what changed right before it started. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Land Rover Defender, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Land Rover Defender, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Only after sitting overnight so far.
