2024 Polestar 2 — should I tell the dealer I am paying cash up front?

I do not need financing, but I keep hearing conflicting advice about when to mention that. I mostly want a clean transaction. Does payment method really change how you should negotiate vehicle price?

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2024 Polestar 2 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Polestar 2 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. Sleeping on the number either way.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Portland before you fall in love with the 2024 Polestar 2. If they balk, that's your answer. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Polestar 2 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “should i tell the dealer i am,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2024 Polestar 2 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Polestar 2 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2024 Polestar 2 in Portland. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Polestar 2 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Polestar 2 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Portland, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Polestar 2 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Polestar 2, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.
