2024 Rivian R1S — dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires?

2024 Rivian R1S Dual-Motor, about 18,000 miles. Most roads are plowed quickly, but there are cold wet days, slush and a handful of serious storms. For a daily driver, where is the line where dedicated winters become worth storing? I am in Salt Lake City. What would you check next?

It did dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2024 Rivian R1S charge sessions. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in Salt Lake City with 18,000 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Make the next action something you can finish this week. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Agree — and I'd add this: Leave the alerts on the 2024 Rivian R1S so service can see what you saw. I'd do that before spending real money. Stop there until you know. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2024 Rivian R1S, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “dedicated winter tires or modern all-weather tires,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

I'd push back a little: Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Rivian R1S — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2024 Rivian R1S so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2024 Rivian R1S first. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Rivian R1S — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
