2024 Rivian R1S — driver seat clicks during left-right transitions

NewCarRoadie849Community StarterSep 2, 20262024 Rivian R1S Dual-MotorNew York
I can feel a small click through the seat base in corners. Mounting bolts appear tight and power functions work. How do you isolate rail play versus the frame or motor mechanism? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Ask what changed right before it started. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Rivian R1S, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Rivian R1S if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Was this after sitting overnight? No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2024 Rivian R1Ss can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Rivian R1S didn't change. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

If it were in my driveway, loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Rivian R1S catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Rivian R1S, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Rivian R1S, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Rivian R1S, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “driver seat clicks during left-right transitions,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in New York. Was this after sitting overnight? Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Rivian R1S catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “driver seat clicks during left-right transitions,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Rivian R1S and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Rivian R1S does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

On “driver seat clicks during left-right transitions,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
