The advertised used-car price was competitive, but the worksheet includes protection packages, tracking equipment and other preinstalled items that were not obvious online. How do you compare the real OTD price across dealers? Interested in real owner experience more than guesses.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Tesla Model Y numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “advertised price jumps thousands at the desk,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Tesla Model Y price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Tesla Model Y price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Asking because it changes the advice: In Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Tesla Model Y comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Tesla Model Y numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Sacramento before you fall in love with the 2024 Tesla Model Y. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal.
