2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range — driver-assistance camera needs calibration after windshield

WrenchMechanicish30Community StarterMar 15, 20262024 Tesla Model Y Long RangeDMV / Maryland
2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range, about 14,500 miles. New windshield is in and shop says the camera needs calibration. Car drives fine and no warning is showing. Would you still do the calibration immediately, and does static vs dynamic calibration matter? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2024 Tesla Model Y charge sessions. That's where I'd start. The universe charges extra for guessing. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Tesla Model Y didn't change. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

It did driver-assistance camera needs calibration after windshield twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2024 Tesla Model Y first. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2024 Tesla Model Y, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “driver-assistance camera needs calibration after windshield,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Tesla Model Y — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in DMV / Maryland with 14,500 miles. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

Quick add on that: On the 2024 Tesla Model Y, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. That's where I'd start. On “driver-assistance camera needs calibration after windshield,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Yes, with one caveat: On the 2024 Tesla Model Y, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “driver-assistance camera needs calibration after windshield,” that was the fork that mattered for me. When does it actually happen? I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2024 Tesla Model Y so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. The universe charges extra for guessing. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.
