2024 Tesla Model Y — two nearly identical cars are priced $4k apart

HybridLearnerCommunity StarterApr 25, 20262024 Tesla Model Y Long RangeCleveland
2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range, about 35,500 miles. Same year, trim and similar mileage, but two listings are thousands apart. One is CPO and one is not. How would you quantify condition, warranty, history and dealer reputation?

Walked a dealership this week on the 2024 Tesla Model Y (35,500 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Tesla Model Y so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Tesla Model Y price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Cleveland with 35,500 miles. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Tesla Model Y, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Two 2024 Tesla Model Y quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Cleveland with 35,500 miles. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Same neighborhood, different next step: A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Tesla Model Y is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Fair point. Counterpoint: If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Tesla Model Y, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in Cleveland before you fall in love with the 2024 Tesla Model Y. If they balk, that's your answer. Do that first. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Tesla Model Y is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Cleveland with 35,500 miles. That's the whole play. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Tesla Model Y so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Tesla Model Y price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Tesla Model Y and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2024 Tesla Model Y, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Cleveland with 35,500 miles. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Cleveland, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Tesla Model Y comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Cleveland before you fall in love with the 2024 Tesla Model Y. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I asked about two nearly identical cars are priced $4k again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2024 Tesla Model Y and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
