2024 Volkswagen Golf R — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

DieselGalCommunity StarterFeb 28, 20262024 Volkswagen Golf RSeattle
2024 Volkswagen Golf R, about 39,500 miles. A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing?

It did catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. No need to make it theatrical. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. This is from a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R in Seattle with 39,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. I already checked the easy fluid levels.
