2024 Volkswagen Golf R — check-engine light turned itself off — still scan it?

SleeperWeekendCommunity StarterMar 6, 20262024 Volkswagen Golf RSeattle
2024 Volkswagen Golf R, about 27,000 miles. The light was on for two days and then disappeared before I could schedule service. Car feels normal. Is there still likely to be useful stored or pending data if I scan it now?

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R in Seattle with 27,000 miles. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. That's the sequence I'd use. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R didn't change. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2024 Volkswagen Golf Rs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “check-engine light turned itself off — still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Same neighborhood, different next step: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.
