2024 Volkswagen Golf R — check-engine light turned itself off — still scan it? — Detroit owner question

The light was on for two days and then disappeared before I could schedule service. Car feels normal. Is there still likely to be useful stored or pending data if I scan it now?

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Two 2024 Volkswagen Golf Rs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “check-engine light turned itself off — still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R didn't change. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Capture voltage while the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
