2024 Volkswagen Golf R — coolant slowly disappears without an obvious leak

CityMom597Community StarterJul 31, 20262024 Volkswagen Golf RSan Antonio
2024 Volkswagen Golf R, about 42,000 miles. The reservoir goes from full to low over several weeks. No puddle, oil looks normal, and I cannot find dried coolant around the hoses. Is a pressure test the next logical move? Interested in real owner experience more than guesses.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. When does it actually happen? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

If it were in my driveway, write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “coolant slowly disappears without an obvious leak,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Fair point. Counterpoint: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Make the next action something you can finish this week. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Two 2024 Volkswagen Golf Rs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R in San Antonio with 42,000 miles. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Log the conditions before you spend. Capture voltage while the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “coolant slowly disappears without an obvious leak,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.
