2025 BMW M3 — windshield replacement created a highway whistle

CityTraveler79Community StarterJun 1, 20262025 BMW M3 CompetitionWashington DC
A windshield was replaced and now there is a whistle around highway speed that did not exist before. Glass looks seated. Any simple way to locate the air leak before taking it back?

Checked the easy stuff on the 2025 BMW M3 and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Agree — and I'd add this: Move a coil or plug on the 2025 BMW M3 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2025 BMW M3 in Washington DC. Stop there until you know. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2025 BMW M3 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2025 BMW M3 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

OP update: scanned the 2025 BMW M3 again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

If it were in my driveway, swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2025 BMW M3 and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. That's the sequence I'd use. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Ask what changed right before it started. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2025 BMW M3 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

I went back under the 2025 BMW M3 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2025 BMW M3 does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. On “windshield replacement created a highway whistle,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Ask what changed right before it started. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2025 BMW M3, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. This is from a 2025 BMW M3 in Washington DC. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Capture voltage while the 2025 BMW M3 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “windshield replacement created a highway whistle,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2025 BMW M3 didn't change. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2025 BMW M3, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2025 BMW M3, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2025 BMW M3 does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Quick add on that: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2025 BMW M3 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Quick add on that: Two 2025 BMW M3s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “windshield replacement created a highway whistle,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2025 BMW M3 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. Was this after sitting overnight? This is the version I'd tell a friend.
