Another software-related recall — are cars getting too centralized?

This newest recall looks like another case where a software/electronics fault affects a basic driving function. I like modern features, but it does make me wonder whether too many systems now depend on one screen/module. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2017 Nissan Altima owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2017 Nissan Altima, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2017 Nissan Altima first. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Asking because it changes the advice: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2017 Nissan Altima before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'll update if anything new shows up.
