Anyone else: Porsche Cayman purchase: how much weight do you give a borescope?

GarageWeekend8Community StarterJul 18, 20262007 Porsche Cayman SCentral Florida
2007 Porsche Cayman S, about 48,000 miles. Looking at an older Cayman S with good records. I keep seeing buyers emphasize borescope/PPI work on this generation. For someone vetting listings, what would make you walk away before spending money on a full inspection? Trying to diagnose before I book a shop. What am I missing?

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 2007 Porsche Cayman is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “porsche cayman purchase: how much weight do,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2007 Porsche Cayman. Sleeping on the number either way.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2007 Porsche Cayman (48,000 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Central Florida, insurance quotes flipped a 2007 Porsche Cayman comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2007 Porsche Cayman with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “porsche cayman purchase: how much weight do,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2007 Porsche Cayman and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2007 Porsche Cayman numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. This is from a 2007 Porsche Cayman in Central Florida with 48,000 miles. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Central Florida changed the 2007 Porsche Cayman comparison more than the sale price did. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. Two 2007 Porsche Cayman quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'll update if anything new shows up.
